President's Letter

Jackie Portman | Published on 6/1/2021
Dear members,

With each month, I feel a return toward normal. I hope you feel the same way. We are still alternating between Zoom and in-person General Meetings, but upcoming plans are moving in the direction of more in-person events. Look at our list of upcoming activities where we’ll all be together:

* Next General Meeting – New location at Liberty Station on June 19. See page 2 for details.
* Lauren Beaudry continues to plan monthly WEOs.  We all love to eat and talk!
* Bunco! Edwina Johnson, Carol Tatum and Kathy Velasco have worked together to plan an FFI fundraiser on July 24 in Kathy Velasco’s lovely backyard.
* Peggy Miller and Judi Newton have been doing a fantastic job planning our outbound Journey to Cheyenne, WY from September 22 - 30.
* Carol Tatum has secured the Chula Vista Golf Course for our New Officers’ Installation luncheon on November 13, (Save the Date).
* Our Holiday Party is in the early stages of planning by Pat Rudner. Save the Date of December 11 for our end-of-the-year get together.
* We’ll also be meeting in August and October – locations and programs To Be Announced.

We traditionally don’t meet in July, and that will be the same this year, (except for Bunco!) We will give Tom a break and not publish a monthly newsletter in July. In addition, we often don’t meet in the months that we have an outbound journey, and that will also be the case this year, so we won’t be meeting in September. Here you have our general calendar for the rest of the year. I also hope you’ll participate in the planning of our 2022 Journeys which is going on now! At our June General Meeting we’ll have sign-ups for hosting our Japanese families in July of next year.

Enjoy the beginning of summer. I’m happy to say, “I’ll see you soon”!

In friendship,
Jackie
