President's message

Published on 10/1/2017
I hope everyone enjoyed a warm and fun summer AND WELCOME TO AUTUMN. A newsletter was not sent in September due to members’ preoccupation with two inbound exchanges within weeks of each other. The Austin Exchange had a terrific turnout at the Welcome Breakfast in Point Loma, the Pops’ Boz Scaggs picnic and concert at the Summer Pops, and the farewell dinner at the Coronado Cays. We received many letters of appreciation from the Austin ambassadors. Thanks to Mary Prokop and her committee for a “job well done”.

Tom Schulz is finalizing the Leuven, Belgium (and friends) Exchange beginning Sept. 25th. For up to date news on all these activities,

Bob Traber continues to encourage all members to access the club’s website. (http://www.friendshipforcesandiego.org/).

To restate the upcoming “journeys” please note the following. The international outbound “journey” is Moscow, Russia for the Spring of 2018 with Mike Boyko as ED. Mike has already researched extension tours before or after the visit to Moscow. He is presently accepting $100.00 deposit for those interested.

Long Island, New York is the outbound domestic exchange (September /October 2018). Paula Traber and Jackie Portman are joint JDs for this “journey”.

For February 5 - 11, 2018, the domestic incoming journey is Flathead Valley, Montana. Bob Stafford and Hal Herritt were approved as co-JDs.

The international in-coming journey of Gisborne, New Zealand (suggested date, July 2018), will have Carol Tatum and Kathy Velasco as co-JDs.

Finally, for the summer 2019, Sue Pasterkiewicz with Bob Stafford will be (JDs) for Outgoing Flathead Valley, Montana. Roger Walsh is presently working on future journeys for 2019 and 2020. Stay tuned.

Sandra Williams and Bob Stafford returned from the FF World Conference in Manchester, England late August. Sandra will be presenting highlights from this conference at our next General Meeting. Please note the upcoming installation luncheon on Nov. 18th, with information from Judy Anderson in this newsletter.

The next Board Meeting will be held Monday, October 16, 1:00 PM at the home of Tom Schulz. The next General Meeting will be at Joyce Beers Community Cen-ter October 21st at 1:30 PM.

Thanks to all the members who extended sympathy and attended the funeral services for my son Tim, who died August 24th. The Friendship Force community has certainly been a source of comfort in our loss.

In Friendship,
Carol Babbitt, President
